I bought a brand new 2002 GMC Sierra Z71 Ext. Cab 5.3L TBI w/automatic trans. The truck now has 206,000 road miles on it & has been serviced every 3000 miles faithfully, washed & interior cleaned regularly. I ran it from the start with Castrol 20W50 during the summer months & ran Castrol 10W30 during the winter months. Oh, by the way I live in Northeast Louisiana.
When I finally got 150,000 miles on my truck in the morning when I started the engine the oil pressure would stabalize almost immediately at 45 to 50 PSI until the engine heated up to normal operating temperature (with Louisiana heat added also) which was approximately 195 degrees. At this temperature on the drivers side around the engine head I began to hear a low decibal level clitter, clatter or ticking noise until the engine oil pressure reached 60 to 75 PSI and then it would stop. If the truck just sat and idled Iwould get this noise until I headed out.......I am somewhat mechanically inclined and I have a couple of ideas........but I sure would Love to hear some thoughts from Mr. Bowtie and also our hard core Live or Die GM wrenches out there. This could very possibly turn into some high $$$$$$ engine work. That is why I wanted to get all the professional input I could.
Thanks guys for all your hard earned input & GOD Bless.....TallBoy

It could be as simple as a dry hydraulic roller lifter needing oil from a dry engine start and once the oil has arrived, the lifter fills up, excess clearance closes up and it stops ticking.
The reason it started is because of normal wear at 150,000 miles the hydraulic roller lifter is starting to wear its internal parts.
