i am putting an 81 model 350 in my 93 z71 and everything has gone together smoothly except for the exhaust manifolds.....dependingon the order in which i try to put the bolts in either the holes closet to the firewall wont line up or the front holes wont line up... we have tried 5 or 6 different manifolds and none fit...please help me cuz this is my only form of transportation back and forth to work....thank you!!!!

remember to keep the manifolds parallel to the heads while installing. if needed remove the manifolds from the rest of the exhaust first, then reconnect the exhaust once the manifolds are in. quite common problem.

William,
After 1986 Chevrolet changed the exhaust manifold bolt pattern on the cylinder heads. The first and last bolt holes are each further forward compared to the 1955-1985 casting locations. You can use either 1955-1985 exhaust manifolds or headers designed for 1955-1985 Chevrolet's as you mentioned.
