True SS by VIN#

Hello, I just bought a 72' Nova and was told that the 5th letter of the VIN indicates that it's a true SS. In this case, that letter is a K. Is this true??? I'm brand new to a project and hoping I came across a good one. Thank you for your help. |

| To identify your 1972 as a true SS call Chevrolet Customer Assistance at 1 800 222-1020 with your complete vin from 9-4 Eastern time M-F. Information we have shows the 5th digit of a 1972 Nova vin identifies the car as originally equipped with a 350 and 4 barrel carburetor, 200 horsepower. |
